Cory S. Richter, BA, NRP, President

Cory is a retired deputy chief for Indian River Fire Rescue in Florida. He has been involved in EMS for 40 years and has worked for several agencies, including a private ambulance service where he conducted both non-emergency transports and responding to 9-1-1 calls. Cory is now the IT Director for Indian River Shores Public Safety Department (IRSPSD) IRSPSD is a public safety agency that covers Indian River Shores for police, fire, and EMS. Cory manages the network and system programs for the agency and works with the medical director on the EMS protocols.

Cory an active NAEMT volunteer. He is a provider and instructor in AMLS, PHTLS, EPC, GEMS, and TECC and is affiliate faculty for AMLS, PHTLS, EPC and GEMS. Cory works with American Heart Association as a training center coordinator, holds ACLS and BLS instructor certifications, and is regional faculty for ACLS and BLS. Cory has also served as the task force chair for his region in Florida and a member of the state Emergency Communication Center committee. Cory is on the National Fire Protection Association 450 and 451 technical committees.

Cory earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Franklin Pierce College and an Associate degree in Fire Science and EMS from Indian River State College. He was chairman of the Florida EMS Advisory Council and served 4 years. He is the chairman of the Florida EMS Strategic Plan, and is active on several state committees. He has devoted many years to state-level EMS issues – one being the creation of the Florida Drug Shortage Committee.
Don Lundy, Vice President

Don Lundy, BHS, has over 41 years of service in EMS, ranging from dispatch to EMS leader. A paramedic in one of the first groups to certify in Florida in 1974, he directed large municipal and small rural services, as well as helicopter operations. Don currently teaches with Fitch and Associates as a facilitator in their education programs.

Don served as President of NAEMT from 2013-2014. He is a former NAEMT Board of Governors representative for South Carolina and later served on the Board of Directors for two terms as a Region II Director. He was chair of the NAEMT EMS Health and Safety committee, and was a member of the Finance and Bylaws committee. In addition, Don was NAEMT’s representative on the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology First Responder workgroup and continues to serve as Vice President of the NAEMT Foundation.

Regionally, Don is the past president of the South Carolina EMS Association, past chair of the South Carolina EMS Advisory Committee and former chair of the Lowcountry Regional EMS Council, He earned his bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from The Medical University of South Carolina. Don speaks internationally on EMS medical and operational issues, medical technology, work ethics, and served as an instructor at the National Fire Academy’s EMS program. In 2014, he was a recipient of the Warren McBride Lifetime Achievement Award for 40 years of work in EMS.

Don is the President-Emeritus of the Board of the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy and is the past president of the Charleston Lions Club. He serves as a member of the South Carolina Foster Care Review Board 9-C.
Connie Meyer, Secretary

Connie Meyer has been involved with EMS since 1982, when she became a volunteer EMT in rural Kansas. She has been a Paramedic since 1989 and retired as EMS Captain Emeritus from Johnson County Med-Act in Olathe, KS in 2012. She currently serves as a volunteer EMS first responder in her local community and works as a nurse part time.

Meyer is past president of the Kansas EMS Association and the Heartland EMS Coalition. She has been a part of NAEMT Leadership since 1993, and served as the Kansas representative to the NAEMT Board of Governors from 1993 to 2000, as well as a member of the Board of Directors since 1997.
Rod Barrett, Board of Trustees

Rod Barrett of Bentonville, Ark., began his career as an EMT in 1978 and became a paramedic in 1982. He received a bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University in 1973, and became an R.N. in 2004. He served with both private and public service models in Little Rock, Ark., and Memphis, Tenn., before joining the Bella Vista Fire/EMS department in 1986. He retired after 25 years with the department. Rod continues in the EMS community as an instructor in several disciplines and as an adjunct instructor for Northwest Arkansas Community College in the College of Health-related Professions, as well as various other agencies.

Rod served on the NAEMT Board, the Arkansas EMT Association Board of Directors for 12 years with three terms as president, and as a member of the Arkansas Governor’s Advisory Committee since 1996. He also serves on the Fire Science Advisory Board and the EMS advisory board for Northwest Arkansas Community College. He was inducted into the Arkansas EMS Hall of Fame in 2014.

Rod has chaired the Disciplinary Process Committee on the current revision of the Arkansas EMS Rules & Regulations and has been active as an adjunct instructor for the Northwest Arkansas Community College in the College of Health Related Professions, and serves on the Fire and EMS advisory boards.
Rick Ellis, Board of Trustees

Rick Ellis, MSDEM, NRP, currently serves as a Paramedic Educator and Associate Dean for Health Sciences at Central Georgia Technical College. He has been a Paramedic for 40 years and an EMS educator for 30. He holds a Master’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management and a Bachelors in Occupational Education. Rick currently serves as the Chair for the NAEMT Education Committee and a member of the Board of Directors for the Committee on Accreditation of EMS Education Programs. He also volunteers as a Tactical medic for the Bibb County Georgia Sheriff’s office.
Fergus Laughridge, Board of Trustees

Fergus Laughridge, AEMT, ASM,CPM. Fergus is the Captain for Fort McDermitt Tribe EMS Rescue in McDermitt, Nevada. The tribal EMS services Northern Humboldt (NV) and Southern Malheur (OR) counties. As Captain he is responsible for professional services development and ensuring EMS Rescue complies with State and Federal regulatory requirements.

He has a diverse professional background as a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, and manager of EMS systems and operations. He has served as the Professional Services and Compliance Officer for Humboldt General Hospital and Director of Nevada State Health Division, Emergency Medical Systems and Trauma program. As Director of Nevada EMS he was responsible for assuring the quality of prehospital emergency medical and trauma services throughout Nevada. As State EMS Director, he was involved with numerous federal, state, and community activities relating to emergency planning, preparedness and response.

Fergus is continually requested to serve on various state and federal committees centered on quality patient care, trauma systems, emergency preparedness, and credentialing of EMS systems.
Rob Luckritz, Treasurer

Robert Luckritz, JD, NRP, is EMS Chief of the Austin-Travis County EMS System, serving Austin, TX and Travis County, TX, where he leads the largest municipal third-service EMS agency in the nation with an authorized staff of 665 sworn personnel and nearly 100 civilians across 46 stations and 1,100 square miles, responding to approximately 150,000 requests for service annually and a budget exceeding $100M.

Robert received his Bachelor's degree in EMS Management from Springfield College, a Juris Doctor degree from Western New England University, and is currently working towards a Master's degree in Public Administration at Northeastern University. In 2015, he received the JEMS Magazine EMS10 Innovators in EMS Award, and was the recipient of a 2016 NAEMT Presidential Leadership Award. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Urban Hospitals and the New Jersey Association of Paramedics.
Scott Matin, Board of Trustees

Scott A. Matin, MBA, NRP, is a site review team leader for the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) and adjunct faculty for the School of Administrative Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Scott is the former vice president of Clinical, Education & Business Services for MONOC Mobile Health Services in Wall Township, N.J. Covering over 1,800 square miles and servicing more than 2.8 million residents, MONOC is New Jersey’s largest provider of EMS, ambulance and aeromedical services.

Scott has been involved in EMS for over 30 years and is an established manager, educator and nationally registered Paramedic. He is also the author of numerous articles and research studies, a member of several editorial review boards, and a frequent presenter at professional conferences throughout the country.
Jason Scheiderer, Board of Trustees

Jason Scheiderer, MS, NREMT-P, is a paramedic and emergency responder for multiple agencies in Indiana. Jason is paramedic who works as the Coordinator of Paramedicine and Transportation at Rush Memorial Hospital. The focus of this position is working to reduce readmissions and improve other hospital quality measures while also taking emergency transfers out of the critical access hospital and helping in the emergency department. Jason also works with Seals Ambulance as a paramedic in both 911 and transfer roles. As many other EMS and Fire personal do, Jason volunteers as a firefighter/EMT with Rushville Township Fire Department. Jason still enjoys teaching various AHA, NAEMT, and other continuing education classes at his various departments.

Previously, Jason worked as the Epic implementation director of Training for Eskenazi Health responsible for Epic and other IT training for Indianapolis EMS, Eskenazi Health and part of the IU School of Medicine. Prior to moving into IT training, Jason was an education lieutenant with IEMS, the largest 911 service in the city responding to roughly 100,000 calls each year. A division of the Indianapolis Department of Public Safety, IEMS has a unique partnership with the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine, Marion County Health and Hospital Corporation, and the City of Indianapolis, with Eskenazi Health as the supervising hospital. Jason taught specialty continuing education classes such as Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and CPR, and also worked in the field with students.

Prior to the formation of IEMS, Jason worked for the Wishard Ambulance Service, first as an EMT, then paramedic and educator. He received his Master's degree in Emergency Service Management from The George Washington University and his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religion from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., where he started as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and continued in several part-time fire and EMS positions throughout Indiana. Jason serves as the NAEMT Advocacy Coordinator for Indiana, and is a member of the Advocacy Committee and EMS Safety Course Committee. He was honored with the 2014 Field EMS Bill Advocate of the Year Award and is a member of the Indiana EMS education work group. He is also serves in the training position on the Rush County LEPC.
